++ might as well make the best of it
A short girl, standing at about 5'3, raised a hand and twisted the handle, leaning against the door to push it inward, stumbling into the bulding while trying to keep a hold on her two suitcases. Her stilletto heels weren't helping her balance and she found herself giggling slightly as she tried to get to her room before she just completely dropped everything. She shook her long blonde locks from her face, feeling them fall against the middle of her back where they sat. A few shorter strands of hair framed her face and also made it obvious that the reason her hair was so long was thanks to extensions. She wore a daisy printed navy blue and white knee lengthed skirt with. Her shirt was a white wife beater that currently showed off her rather flat, peirced stomach thanks to being pulled up constant heaving to keep the luggage in her arms.
She finally made it and shoved the door open to her small room, dropping the luggage on the floor the second she entered the room "Oh thank God" she giggled slightly, heaving a relieved sight, raising her hand to run the back of it across her forehead. She pushed her big sunglasses up onto the top of her blonde head and looked around. Well it was small, but there was a bed and a bathroom and it would do. She pulled the heaviest suitcase across the carpeted floor and heaved it up onto the bed, unzipping it and tossing the top back so she was able to peer into her bag at the large ammount of clothes that was packed inside. She bit the corner of her glossy strawberry lip gloss covered lip and began pulling clothes out, tossing them wherever, not caring where they went. The scattered clothes would certainly make it more like home, besides her jeans were at the bottom at thats what she need.
"Ah ha!"
she anounced, a hint of excitement in her voice as she yanked a pair of dark blue boot cut jeans from the bottom of her bag. She giggled excitedly and wandered over to the door to slam it shut before slipping out of her skirt. She revealed her extremely nice worked out legs, and the prink frilly thong that she wore. She slowly slid the jeans on, one leg at a time and had to tug a little to get the tight things around her butt and hips. She pulled them around her and buttoned them in place before pulling the zipper up. She slid her hands into the pockets to shove them down and the ran her hands down her legs. She nodded approvingly after a moment and reached for a pair of socks that now sat on the little bedside table from when she'd thrown them from her suit case. She sat on the bed and slid them on her feet before grabbing her boots from the suitcase. She slid cheap second hand boots onto her feet and tied the laces before standing again. She pulled her long hair back into a messy bun on the back of her head and tucked the shorter strands back in a butterfly clip. Again she nodded approvingly and with a slight bounce to her step, headed out of her room, off to find the owner of this place, Shail... [/sup]

The young woman sat in the rather small offices not too far from the staff cottages. A small baby lay in a play pen, totally konked out, and the woman sat, frowning at the papers on her desk, her hair shoved behind her ears, looking tired and older than her 22 years. The baby stirred and the woman glanced over her shoulder as the baby rolled over and fell to sleep again, a smile slowly curving the woman's lips as she watched her baby girl. She really was an adorable baby, with bright blue eyes when they were opened.
The woman shook her head and stared forlornly at the papers again, the hand that had been on her forehead beginning to tap wildly on the calculator. "It's not coming out..." she mumbled, obviously doing something with a checkbook or taxes or something.
"Ah ha.." she murmured as it finally came out. "It's ok, baby, we're not in debt..." she told the little girl who was now rolling around squealing in her playpen. The woman shook her head a bit, a smile curving her lips, obviously feeling better as she stood, the rolly chair rolling away from her as she leaned over the pen and pulled the baby out. "Shhhh, baby.." she murmured, settling the baby on her hip and, holding the baby's head to her shoulder, bouncing slightly, singing quietly, under her breath as the baby slowly quieted. Her voice was actually quite nice. "There we are, baby..." the pretty young woman murmured as the little girl quieted and leaned back to gaze up at her momma, a smile on the woman's lips as she grabbed a binki and stuck it in the baby's mouth, holding the 3 month old in one arm as she laid down a thick afghan and set the baby on it, along with several toys, including a baby rattle and a squeaky duck before going back to her paperwork, unaware of the young woman trying to find her...

"One, two, three, ready or not here I come"
Jane whispered quietly to herself as she made quick pace across the grounds, heading right up to the office door. tat tat tat her fingernails tapped gently against the door of the office before she pushed it open and stepped inside. She glanced around and took in the smallness of it. Yes it was small but it appeared to be cozy. She turned, snapping back to reality and gave a smile to the woman, marching on over she extended her hand
"Jane Turner reporting for duty, miss"
she mumbled with a grin, shaking the woman's hand before pulling her own back to her side. She caught sight of the baby and wandered over, kneeling beside her. She simply was gorgeous. Hey beautiful her lips shaped but she didn't actually say anything, making faces at the sweet little girl. She gently patted the top of the baby's little head before pushing herself back to her feet, turning to look at the woman again.

The woman's head lifted up as the door was tapped on and a smile curved her lips. "Hello, Jane, I'm Shail Teer, and that's Abby," she said, swinging her head toward the baby as she shook the girl's hand warmly. Thebaby giggled and kicked at Jane's faces as the woman quickly organized the papers and swooped the little girl into her arms. "Ready to go see the farm?" she asked curiously, smiling at Jane before opening the door and heading out with a purposeful stride...

She laughed slightly and nodded, having not been expecting to head out so fast. She followed the woman out of the office, making faces at the baby as she walked behind them. She walked also with a purposeful stride, trying to mimic the woman she followed, wanting to have a give a good impression. She smiled slightly, following close behind but not right beside, wanting to show a little respect for the woman. She reached up out of habbit and twisted her blonde hair around her finger for a moment before shoving it behind her ear again, lowering her hand and shoving it into her pocket.

Shail nodded. She liked the girl. The baby was laughing at Jane again, and Shail sucked in a breath when the baby kicked her. "Oooooouch..." she told the child with the slightest of smiles. "It's better than a horse, that's for sure.." she said, and came to a stop in front of a white wooden fence. A mare and foal, and several other mares grazed inside, while the foal frolicked and kicked. "These were just turned out.." she told Jane. "This is my broodmare band. The chestnut with the blaze is Money Cashe, aka Cashe..." She pointed to a mare grazing on the fenceline to the right of them. "The mare and foal is CS Kora, aka Kora and CS Shebanged Jazzy, also known as Jazzy. The other chestnut," she pointed to a mare standing in the middle of the field. "Is CS Angel's Halo. We tend to call her Halo, but Angel slips sometimes too." She gave a little nod. "The bay is Blue Willow. I bought her cheep because of leg problems, but she's given me some excellent foals. Her two year old, CS Dreambox Echo, she's in training right now, she'll enter her maiden race soon, and she's done pretty well. I'm excited for her." The woman smiled and nodded, giving Kora's head a firm rub as the mare came over to nuzzle the baby, getting giggles and kicks from the little girl. The woman smiled and continued on, speaking as she went. "I'm sure you get the picture. Anything with CS on the registered name was born and bred here. Anything that doesn't have CS are horses that I've bought over the years. Only one of my racing string this year was born here. Echo." She glanced over her shoulder and smiled. They had come to a barn of smallish size. Smaller, at least, in comparison to the others. It was obviously under construction, though it looked like there were only two stalls yet to be finished. "I don't need many stalls in my stallion barn," she explained, nodding to one of the construction workers. "Since I never intend to have that many." She smiled and came to a stop before the stall that housed a lanky, tall, gray stallion. "This is Hollywood Cop, but he goes by Hollywood. This is Echo's sire." She gave a little nod and gave the stallion a pat. "He's a sweety." A bang was heard as another horse kicked his stall. The woman heaved a sigh and turned slowly to face a muscular black stallion. "And then there's CS Vadin." She heaved a sigh. "He's a lot more...erm...of a leader than a follower, shall we say?" she asked, moving forward to put her hand through the stallion's halter. "He had a great racing career.." she said softly, almost reverantly. And it was no wonder. CS Vadin was the only horse born to Clover Stables that had made it into the 5 digits with his winnings. "He was always really spunky and hot, and we worked for a long time to find a jockey that would mesh with him. Too many tried to muscle him around and they got thrown." She shrugged and heaved a helpless sigh. "He just wasn't, and still isn't, the type of horse you can muscle around." She shook her head. "Once we found his jockey, he had an incredible career. He made some papers, won some bigger races, never got a lot of media attention." She laughed. "But he's our star..." The stallion, apparently, had a soft spot for the young woman, becase he was softly whuffling her hair and nosing the baby gently. "He's a bit of a flirt...." Shail said with a grin as she stepped back, giving the stallion a final touch on the nose. She looked to Jane. "Shall we go see the racing stock?" she asked, realizing she was kind of rushing through their horses....

The young Blonde wandered after the woman in charge, watching the horse's with little smiles. She absentmindedly twisted the loose strands of blonde hair around her fingertip, watching as the woman pointed out the horse's and introduced them by registered and barn name. She nodded slightly, trying to take them all in but she was getting a funny feeling in her tummy I am never going to remember all these she thought almost frantically to herself, hoping the woman wouldn't mind. But you never knew, most racing stables were strict and expected alot of somebody, though this woman didn't seem like that type, you never knew and Jane really didn't want to take any chances. She watched the foal with a tiny smile, shoving a strand of hair that she'd just been twisting around her finger moments before behind her ear, smile growing on her lips as the baby pranced around and made a scene. She'd always loved how carefree foals were, how they thought nothing could touch them as long as they looked big and tough, and if all else failed momma was nearby to keep them safe. She nodded at the thought and chuckled to herself, the chuckle barely noticable. She turned when they were ready to move on and followed the woman into the barn.
She was listening as the woman introduced the first stud but she'd already caught sight of Vadin and had subtly slipped away in that direction. Jane had a semi short attention span especially when there were bigger better things to be looking at. Grin spread across her face and she peered into the stall, admiring the stallion. She startled when the woman came over and gave her a sheepish smile, but when the woman didn't even seem to mind she sighed inwardly, a relieved sigh. She smiled slightly, watching the stallion with the woman and nodded understandingly.
"I rode a horse like that a while back, he was the only horse that ever frustrated me.."
She laughed quietly, staring at the stallion as if in thought. Again the began twising the blonde hair around her finger then letting it slide off, shoving it behind her ear yet again, it was a terrible habbit, always made her seem like someone who wasn't paying attention, off in their own world. At this moment in time that thought would be true though, as she thought back to the big bay she used to ride.
"I got thrown at least once a week..But I knew deep down inside I actually loved him. He was the only horse that seemed to think for himself and I liked that"
she laughed lightly and waved her hand as if to say excuse me for talking. Way to go Jane, tell your life story right here she scolded and rolled her eyes at herself, pulling her eyes from the stallion to rest on the woman again.

The woman smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I ended up riding him for his first couple of races until we found a jockey. Only the two of us ever stayed on him.." she smiled ruefully. "He had a great career once Joe got on him, though...They meshed really well.." she nodded a bit to herself, slowly opening the stall door. "Don't kill me, ok, Big guy.." she murmured. "He would have had another two years to his name, but..." she rubbed his chest and her hand slowly slid down his leg, asking him to lift. "Then he got this injury.." she murmured, showing Jane a special shoe and messed up hoof. "We had to retire him to stud." She nodded, straightening, the baby giggling at being hanging from her mother's arm. The woman smiled and slipped out of the stall. "Ok, off we go.." she said with a smile, leading the young woman into a larger barn. "This is the racing stock.." she said with an approving nod. "That's CS Dreambox Echo, aka Echo.." she smiled. "She's a sweetie, and she's been really easy to break thus far.." "Yesh, gorgeous.." she told the filly, now talking in the baby talk, cuddly type voice as she cupped the filly's lower lip in her hand. "Gorgeous girl that you are, yes..." she said with a smile as the filly snorted. "That's Zip...Zippity-Do-Da..." she smiled. "He's done really well this year, and he's been a lot of fun." She smiled and nodded. "Oh, you're excercise rider, right?" she asked, a look of realization coming over her features. "So you'll be riding these guys in the mornings. Well, not Echo yet, since she's still in really beginning training...But Zip and Silence....Silence to Kill.." she said with a little nod, pointing to a little chestnut filly with white socks and a broad blaze. "they're all sweety pies...Zip tends to have a mind of his own sometimes, but you should get on all right.." she smiled. "We have another one coming in..Bellmont...Bella..." She smiled and nodded. "She should be fun. And don't worry if all the names overwhelm you...You'll get used to them after a while." She looked Jane in the eye and smiled.

She smiled slightly and reached her hand in through the bars of the stall to pet Echo, watching her with admiring eyes, she was a gorgeous thing, and she appeared to be a sweetie. She looked back to the woman
"Oh well I would mind riding Echo"
she said with a little nod, she knew she could handle it. She rode some pretty barely broke horses alot before she'd come here. It was nothing new to her. But she understood if Shail wanted someone else to ride her. She smiled a little bit, fingertips still gently stroaking the long face of the filly. She pulled her hand back and looked at the other two with a slight nod
"I think I can handle this"
she said with a light laugh, glancing towards the woman. She unclipped the butterfly clip from her hair and shoved the loose strands that had escaped back, catching them again with the clip. She moved her head from side to side cracking her neck and then laughing, giving the woman a look that said Excuse me. She glanced around the barn and then back to the woman
"Can I ride someone now?"
she asked curiously, slight excitement and anticipation in her voice. She hadn't ridden in a couple weeks and she was dying to get back on a horse. She just didn't feel complete when she wasn't able to ride. But here, she thought excitedly, she'd be able to ride everyday.

The woman smiled at Jane. "Oh, I don't doubt you couldn't handle her.." she said with a smile and an amiable nod. "But she has a slightly different regimine, and our trainer..." she rolled her eyes a tad. "Has forbidden anyone riding her but him...." she lau ghed. "Including me." She grinned and motioned toward a tack room that sat at the far end of the stable. "Why don't you tack up Zip, and I'm gonna go get Cashe. She should handle both of us pretty well.." she said with a smile and a nod toward the baby resting on her tummy, facing out so she could see. "Soooooo..I'll go grab Cashe, and you can tack up Zip. His tack is right inside the door. The rack is labled, and my grooms are like, Obsessive Compulsive, I swear, so everything is pretty organized. You shouldn't have any trouble finding his stuff." She smiled as she turned away, her thoughts falling into their own little world, thinking about how good Jane would look in the mint green and purple colors that flew over Clover Stables horses. She heaved a sigh as the baby was set in the baby bouncer in the tack room, and left for a few minutes, obviously not worried here, with the grooms, and jogged out to the broodmare pasture and gave a loud, shrill whistle. All the band, including Kora and Jazzy came galloping in, stretching their long, Thoroughbred legs. Shail laughed. "Easy, ladies, easy.." she said, her eyes twinkling as the mares crowded around her. "Cashe.." she called to the well broke Thoroughbred mare. "Here we are..." she cooed quietly as she haltered the mare. The gate was opened just wide enough for Cashe to squeeze through before it was slammed on the other mares, keeping them in. "Yes, gorgeous girl, ready to go for a hack?" she asked the extremely tall mare, picking up a jog, the mare a lively, high stepping trot toward the racing barn where the saddles were held. The mare was quickly put in the cross ties, Shail offering Jane a smile as she flew into the tack room and grabbed a regular, old English saddle. This was quickly put on the mare's back, quickly cinched, the flaps quickly dropped. The English bridle was quickly put on the mild mare's face, and a helmet was grasped and shoved on her curly hair. The baby was retrieved from her bouncer, and Shail swung on with some difficulty, trying to hold both reins and baby and get her leg up high enough to get into the stirrup iron. Miraculously, this was done, and Shail and Abby sat on Cashe's back, quite a ways from the ground, and shifted the saddle until it sat right on the mare's back, looking expectantly at Jane. "We'll just go on a hack for now, show you the lay of the land." She said with a smile.

Jane pulled the horse from the stall and shoved him into the cross ties before going to the tack room in search of tack. She found it quickly with no trouble just as the woman had said she would and began tacking him up. The process was quick and Jane was sure if there were competitions in the fastest tacking up job she'd be somewhere in the top. By the time Shail had returned with her horse Jane was already tacked up and on the back of the tall thoroughbred, smile on her lips. She knew Shail hadn't been gone long and was congradulating herself on how fast she'd been. She gathered her reins short so the bit made contact with the horse's mouth and she shoved her heels down, back straight, head up. She hadn't bothered with a helmet though it had crossed her mind and she knew she better she hadn't, and had now forgotten all about it. She sat in perfect english form up in the saddle, glancing towards Shail with a little smile
"It feels so good to be back on a horse"
she giggled happily and pressed her heels into the side of the big horse she sat upon, asking him forward. He did as he was asked and she relaxed a little, watching as the woman tacked up and watching as the woman got on, amazed at her abilitys, mounting with a baby in hand, especially on a tall horse, Jane knew she certainly couldn't do something like that.
She asked the horse into a walk then a slow trot, going out of the barn after Shail. It sounded lovely, it'd be nice to see the grounds, get to know her way around. She was pretty sure she'd be liking it here at Closer Stables.

Shail smiled, nudging Cashe into a trot, posting to it easilly, the baby held close to her tummy, squealing with delight as her the horse bounced her and her momma up and down. Shail laughed, shaking a few strands of hair from her face. It'd been a while since she herself had taken the liberty of a hack, and it was great, now wasn't it?
She heaved a sigh, picking up a canter, the English reinsheld in one hand, the baby squished against her tummy in the other, having no intentions of letting the child fall. Not here, not now, not ever. Well...Maybe not ever. There was only so much a mother could do. They'd have to buy her a pony soon..Or maybe they could just give her Kora..or Cashe...But it's such a long fall.. she reflected, chewing softly on her lip.
